Smart & Final Invests Nearly $4 Million in New Store, Bringing Jobs and a Better Food Shopping Experience to Lincoln Heights
SANTA CLARITA, CA (October 2009) A new Smart & Final Extra! store opened in Lincoln Heights on October 14 providing a much needed boost to the local economy. Smart & Final is investing nearly $4 million in the new store, which is located at 2511 Daly Street. The 33,000 sq. ft. Smart & Final Extra! store will replace an 8,000 sq. ft. store that Smart & Final has operated since 1966 at 2019 Pasadena Ave.
O’Brien Marketing orchestrated two attention grabbing events to support Smart & Final’s new store opening. The agency brought together Major League Soccer’s Chivas USA and the top-ranked Spanish radio station, La Nueva 101.9FM (KSCA-FM). The first event, to be held Saturday, October 24, will feature La Nueva’s on-air talent, station and team giveaways including tickets to the Chivas’ final regular season game. The event will be highlighted with a scheduled appearance by Chivas USA stand out Gerson Mayen. On Sunday, November 1, the store’s grand opening celebration will continue with another event with La Nueva and will feature the ChivaGirls on the same day as the Chivas’ playoff game.
To celebrate the reopening, the Smart & Final Charitable Foundation is donating $1,500 each to Plaza De La Raza and the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club.
A new Smart & Final store opening is an exciting event and having headlining partners like Chivas USA and La Nueva is a fantastic fit for them and this deserving neighborhood, said C. Patrick O’Brien, CEO of O’Brien Marketing. We’re excited to be a part of this event that is sure to garner tremendous interest in the community and for Smart & Final.
The new Smart & Final Extra! store will carry a greatly expanded selection of products in key categories like produce, fresh meat, frozen foods, dairy, deli and grocery basics like cereal, yogurt, bread and snacks. There are also entirely new sections for baby food and diapers and health and beauty care. The store also will continue to carry a large selection of value-sized products for stocking-up and a broad assortment of foodservice, janitorial and other supplies for businesses and organizations.
The name Smart & Final Extra! illustrates that these stores have all the features our customers love about Smart & Final plus extra low prices, extra assortment, extra service and more. In addition to associates coming from other Smart & Final locations, our Lincoln Heights store is creating more than 30 extra jobs in the community. That is something the local economy desperately needs, says Smart & Final Stores LLC Chairman & CEO George Golleher.
